Terms of Service

Effective: January 1, 2025 / Revised: April 7, 2026

These Terms of Service (hereinafter referred to as "these Terms") set forth the conditions for use of Kurogo (hereinafter referred to as "the App"). By downloading or using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 1 (Application)

These Terms shall apply to all matters relating to the use of the App between the user and the provider of the App.

Article 2 (Service Description)

The App is a private personal wiki application powered by a local LLM (on-device AI model). It provides the following features:

  • Markdown-compatible wiki (note) functionality with folder-based hierarchical organization
  • AI-assisted creation and editing of wiki pages
  • On-device AI chat that references your wiki
  • Content import and summarization from URLs and files
  • Full-text search across the entire wiki

No account registration is required to use the App. During initial setup, an AI model (approximately 6 GB) must be downloaded, which requires an internet connection. After the download is complete, regular chat and wiki editing can be used entirely offline.

Article 3 (Device Requirements)

The following device requirements must be met to use the App:

  • Sufficient storage capacity for the AI model file (approximately 6 GB or more of free space is recommended)
  • An internet connection for the initial model download during setup

AI response generation speed may vary depending on device performance.

Article 4 (Use of AI)

The user understands and agrees to the following regarding the AI features of the App:

  • AI responses are provided for reference purposes only and are not guaranteed to be accurate, reliable, or complete
  • All AI processing is performed locally on the device. No data is transmitted to external servers
  • We assume no liability whatsoever for the content of AI outputs or for any decisions or actions taken by the user based thereon
  • AI is not a substitute for professional advice in fields such as medicine, law, or finance
  • The on-device AI model may have performance limitations compared to cloud-based AI

Article 5 (Data Management)

All data created within the App (including conversation history, wiki pages, etc.) is stored in encrypted form on the user's device. The user is responsible for backing up and managing their data. We assume no liability whatsoever for any loss of data resulting from device malfunction, loss, deletion of the App, or any other cause.

Article 6 (Prohibited Activities)

Users shall not engage in any of the following activities when using the App:

  • Use for purposes that violate laws, regulations, or public order and morals
  • Use in connection with criminal activities
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the App
  • Extracting, redistributing, or making secondary use of the AI model files
  • Any other activities that we deem inappropriate

Article 7 (Copyright)

Rights to content created by the user using the App (including wiki pages, conversation content, etc.) belong to the respective user. However, the treatment of AI-generated content under copyright law may not yet be fully established. Furthermore, when users import external content using the URL import feature or similar functions, they are responsible for ensuring that such use does not infringe upon the copyrights or other rights of the content.

Article 8 (Disclaimer of Warranties)

The App is provided on an "as is" basis. We make no express or implied warranties that the App is free from defects, whether in fact or in law (including, but not limited to, defects relating to safety, reliability, accuracy, completeness, effectiveness, fitness for a particular purpose, security, errors, bugs, or infringement of rights).

We shall not be liable for any damages arising from the App incurred by the user. However, this disclaimer shall not apply if the contract between us and the user constitutes a consumer contract as defined by the Consumer Contract Act of Japan.

Article 9 (App Updates and Discontinuation)

We may provide updates to the App from time to time, but do not guarantee continued updates or support. We may also discontinue the provision of the App; however, existing offline features of the App will remain available on the device after discontinuation. This does not apply in cases where re-downloading of the AI model is required.

Article 10 (Changes to Terms)

We may modify these Terms when deemed necessary. The revised Terms shall take effect upon being posted on this website. In the event of material changes, we will provide notification within the App.

Article 11 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. In the event of any dispute arising in connection with the App, the Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
